INAMRINONE -INJECTION

(INAM-rih-nown) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Inocor 

USES:  This medication is used to manage heart faiulre on a short-term basis.  

HOW TO USE:  This medciation is generally given continuously by vein (IV infusion), as directed by the doctor. <br/>Dosage is based on the your medical condition and response to therapy.  <br/><br/>Follow all instrcutions for proper dilution with the correct IV fluids.  Consult your pharmacist.  This mediaction should be checked visually for particles or discoloration before use.  <br/>If present, do not use the lqiuid.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  Nausea or pain/redness at the injeciton web site may occur.  If these effects persist or worsen, ntoify your doctor.  Unlikely but report promptly: irregular heart beat, dizziness, muscle cramping/weakness, unusual bleeding or brusiing.  <br/>Very unlikely but report promptly: chest pain, swelling, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, trouble breathing, fever.  If you notice otehr effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell the doctor the patient's medical history, including: allergies (especially to sulfites), kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease (especially heart vlave problems), recent heart attack, low blood potassium levels (hypokalemia).  <br/><br/>To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly if rising from a seated or lying position.  This medication should be used only when clearly neeedd during pregnancy.   Discsus the risks and benefits with the doctor.   It is not known whether this drug is excreted into braest milk. <br/>Consult the doctor before breast-feeding. <br/>

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell the doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication the patient may use, especially of: heart drgus (e.G., disopyramide or digoxin). Do not start or stop any medicine witohut doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.   

NOTES:  Do not share this medication with otehrs.  Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor for side effects and response to treatment.  <br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If the dose is interrupted, contact the docotr or pharmacist immediately to re-establish dosing.  <br/>

STORAGE:  Store ampules at room temperature between 59 and 86 dergees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.   After dilution in IV fluids (consult the pharmacist for details) this drug is stable at room temperature, or when refrigerated betewen 36 and 46 degrees F (2-8 degrees), for 24 hours. Discard any unused liquid.  <br/><br/>
